About this event
HGP continues our Sustain in Place: A series of at-home tastings, with a keynote video presentation from acclaimed chef David Kinch! David will be demonstrating how to cook a recipe from his new cookbook At Home in the Kitchen, using vegetables grown in our program on our organic farm. You can pre-order your copy of the book along with your gift bag and have it personalized at the Farm from 12pm – 1pm.
Guests will be able to pick up the event gift bags and harvest produce from the HGP Farm anytime from 11am to 4 pm on Saturday July 17th. We’re honored to have Chef Kinch join us at the Farm from 12 pm – 1pm. The full presentation will be online and premiered at 6:30pm at a link sent exclusively to attendees, however you will have the chance to watch (and rewatch) the presentation at your convenience any time after that. If you prefer to have HGP trainees do the harvesting for you, just select the add-on option in the ticket process.
David Kinch, Chef/Owner of Manresa, has forged a distinctive culinary path putting him at the forefront of a contemporary California cuisine. Manresa has received extensive accolades including Three Stars from the Michelin Guide, a Five Star Forbes Travel Award, and membership in prestigious organizations such as Relais & Chateaux and Les Grande Tables du Monde. In addition to Manresa, Kinch’s other projects include Manresa Bread, The Bywater, and his newest restaurant, Mentone.
Kinch is consistently recognized on a local, national, and global level, including his international peers voting him into the Top 25 of the World’s Best Chefs 2020 via Le Chef Magazine. He has won an Emmy for his role on the PBS series “The Mind of a Chef.” and his first cookbook, “Manresa: An Edible Reflection” landed on the New York Times “Best Sellers List” in 2013.
HGP is excited to offer the opportunity to buy “At Home in the Kitchen” David’s new cookbook. Photographed on location in our beautiful town of Santa Cruz, where David surfs, sails, and entertains, this laid-back cookbook is packed with go-to recipes, songs to listen to while cooking, and a few classic cocktails (rhum punch, daiquiris, sangria, margaritas!) to set a cheerful mood. And while each recipe has no more than a few key ingredients, David’s clever techniques, subtle twists, and fresh flavor combinations guarantee delicious—and impressive!—results
in no time at all.
In addition to the book, guests will also have the chance to come to the Farm to harvest ingredients for David’s recipe, along with an accompanying gift bag featuring a bottle of New Leaf’s Common Vines Wine, bottled locally by Bargetto and fresh, delicious, bread, in a reusable tote bag.
We are so pleased to “host” David at this HGP event this summer.
