Coupled with that is the push for higher and higher profits for stock holders and the increased pay or perks available to CEOs and others at the top of companies, while pay for the lower end worker has not increased in a like manner. This, of course, makes it difficult to pay bills and retain housing, especially if an emergency presents itself.
