We Love Volunteers Participating at Natural Bridges Farm!

Scheduled volunteer activities occur every Thursday & Friday from 10 am - 2 pm. Visit, meet the crew, learn more about the farm, and join in that day's activity.

Currently, Saturday volunteer dates are by appointment: Call Paul at 423-1020 or email him at paulg@homelessgardenproject.org

Volunteering with the Project

Our volunteer program is flexible to allow for varied interests and schedules.  Some volunteers want to learn about gardening, some want to work at special events; we have friends who volunteer occasionally while others every Tuesday or only during the holiday season.

Read about volunteer activities here and contact the staff directly.  Or fill out our volunteer form and we'll contact you when we have a project that'll interest you.

Farm Volunteers (Map to Farm)
Natural Bridges is a working farm.  Individuals, social groups, and coworkers often join us in any of our current projects or design one of their own.  Projects include all types of farm activities:

  • simple weeding
  • strawberry picking or lavender harvesting
  • planting new crops in early spring
  • choosing flower arrangements for CSA bouquets
  • clearing out a bed for a new crop
  • helping out in our farm kitchen
  • building a winter greenhouse.

Individuals volunteering at the farm should first participate during the volunteer hours every Thursday and Friday.  Different schedules can be arranged after this introduction to Natural Bridges Farm.

Groups may come during volunteer hours or can call ahead to schedule an activity and time. Talk to Paul or Layla at 831.423.1020 or email Layla at laylaa@homelessgardenproject.org

Holiday Season Volunteers
During the month of February, and from October till the end of December, we open our workshop doors to volunteers. Contact Dawn B. (831.426.3609 ext. 3#) if you or your group would like to participate in our Dried Flower & Herb Workshop or at our Holiday Retail Store.

Dried Flower and Herb Workshop
Come learn how to fashion beautiful arrangements with dried flowers and herbs from our garden.  Beginning every October, volunteers come to our offices at Depot Park and enjoy some time learning and creating beautiful wreaths, samplers, or herbal arrangements.

Current Volunteer Projects

@ Natural Bridges:

Lavender Harvest
begins at the farm:

The lavender is
almost ready to harvest!
We predict the week of June 13 we'll begin harvesting
lavender and continue
through June 27.
We grow about
750 row feet of
lavender on the farm
and use it in our potpourri, dryer bags, cookie
mix, fresh and
dried floral arrangements.  The nectar also gives
bees high quality and abundant nectar
while they are foraging.
If you are interested in harvesting lavender,
give the farm a call at 423.1020.
